Game development requires the creation and manipulation of multimedia elements: images, sounds, visual objects, video sequences, photos, three dimension (3D) scenes, etc. These multimedia resources are also increasingly usefull in schools, providing great benefits and better outcomes in the teaching process whithin classrooms.
In this chapter of the Learning Game project Tutorial, we'll first have a quick look at some examples of multimedia use in class. Then we'll cover many of the concepts of multimedia creation both for games and as teaching material. We'll go from preferences and styles to multimedia creation itself, i.e. using real software.
A special work has been done to include 3D objects and scene modelling. This areas have long been out of the "Multimedia" concept and limited to commercial games development. Nowadays, there are easy-use tools that allow everyone to build 3D "worlds" to use in games or as a teaching material. There is both an introduction to generic 3D modelling and some examples and solved activities.
